My Story

Hello, I’m Maxii—aka The Birth Teacher.

I’m a mum of three, a wife, a former school principal, a cattle grazier, and now a passionate childbirth educator living on a property in Emerald, QLD.

My journey into birth work began in 2020, when I became a mum for the first time and felt completely thrown in the deep end. I’d grown up believing birth was something scary, painful, and out of our control - something you just had to endure and do as you were told. That mindset led me to a birth experience that left me confused, disempowered, and asking myself, “What just happened?”

I’d been told to “go with the flow,” so I did, trusting the system to do what was best. But no one told me I had choices. No one told me how powerful knowledge could be. When I prepared for my second birth, I knew I had to do things differently. I learned my options, created a birth plan, practiced breathing techniques, and built a strong, supportive team around me. That birth was everything my first wasn’t, positive, empowering, and on my terms. It lit a fire in me.

That fire became The Birth Teacher. My mission is to make sure no parent looks back on their birth feeling blindsided. I’m here to inform, uplift, and walk beside families as they reclaim their birth stories - so they can feel powerful and proud, no matter how their birth unfolds. I don’t tell parents what to do - I remind them they can decide what happens. My goal is to offer honest, clear, and compassionate education that builds confidence, clarity, and calm.

I’ve seen firsthand how rural families often face limited access to birth education, comfort tools, and emotional support. I’ve heard the stories of isolation, uncertainty, and “just winging it” and I knew we could do better. That’s why The Birth Teacher exists.

Through my courses, workshops, and product hires, I help parents and birth partners feel informed, supported, and ready—no matter where they live, how they choose to birth, or who they have by their side. My work blends evidence-based education with practical tools, mindset strategies, and a whole lot of warmth, humour, and real talk.

Here’s what The Birth Teacher stands for:

  •  Making live, face-to-face birth education accessible in rural and regional communities and Australia wide
  •  Equipping parents and partners with mindset tools, comfort strategies, and advocacy skills
  •  Creating spaces where questions are welcome, choices are respected, and support is real
  •  Building a birth community that’s connected, confident, and never left behind

We need to change the conversation around birth. If you believe in informed birth, in rural families having access to quality support, and in the power of preparation - please follow along on Facebook and Instagram @the.birth.teacher.

Birth is powerful. You've got this, and I've got you.

With love and empowerment,

Maxii x
